On June 11 (KST), Samsung Electronics announced that it is now accepting applications for the 11th Samsung Collegiate Programming Challenge (SCPC). Launched in 2015, SCPC is held annually to foster the software ecosystem and discover outstanding talent. This year marks the 11th edition of the competition.

In a notable update for 2025, the competition introduces a new “AI Challenge” track alongside the traditional “Software Algorithm Challenge.” The AI Challenge aims to identify exceptional individuals with strong capabilities in developing generative AI models. Each challenge will operate independently.

Undergraduate and graduate students with an interest in programming—regardless of their major or year—are eligible to participate. Registration is open from June 11 to July 10 through the Samsung Research website. All preliminary rounds will be conducted online.

The preliminary round for the AI Challenge will run for approximately six weeks, from June 19 to July 28. During this period, participants will compete by demonstrating their skills in building generative AI models. For the Software Algorithm Challenge, the first preliminary round will take place from July 11 to 12, followed by a second round on August 9 to determine finalists.

The final rounds will be held at Samsung Electronics’ Seoul R&D Campus. The AI Challenge final is scheduled for August 22, while the Software Algorithm Challenge final will take place on August 29. The awards ceremony will also be held on August 29 at the same venue.

Finalists will receive prize money and preferential consideration for employment at Samsung Electronics.

Since its inception, the SCPC has drawn approximately 37,000 participants and produced 365 winners between 2015 and 2024.
