Wrtn Technologies, a Korean AI service platform, has signed a partnership with LG AI Research to distribute the EXAONE large language model (LLM), the companies announced on August 19 (KST). This partnership is part of South Korea’s broader “AI Literacy for All” initiative, which aims to boost national AI capabilities by providing inclusive education programs targeting students and AI-disadvantaged groups.
In addition to the model supply agreement, Wrtn and LG AI Research have entered into a broader strategic collaboration. Their partnership will cover joint efforts in deploying AI models and educational content for public use, designing programs to improve AI literacy, and evaluating real-world applications of advanced AI technologies.
The EXAONE 4.0 model, unveiled by LG AI Research on July 15, recently ranked first among Korean models and placed among the global top 10 in the Intelligence Index by Artificial Analysis, a global AI benchmarking firm. The model’s high ranking underscores its competitive performance across various domains.
Wrtn’s agreement with LG AI Research follows its recent partnership with AI semiconductor firm FuriosaAI to build a high-performance inference infrastructure. These strategic collaborations signal Wrtn’s intent to lead AI accessibility and deployment at scale across South Korea.
“We aim to fully leverage EXAONE’s advanced capabilities to support nationwide AI empowerment and create user-centric innovation through our collaboration with Wrtn Technologies,” said Woo-hyung Lim, Co-Director of LG AI Research.
“National AI competitiveness begins with strengthening the AI capabilities of each and every citizen,” said Seyoung Lee, CEO of Wrtn. “We will work closely with various companies to develop AI technologies and services that all citizens can experience tangible benefits from in their daily lives.”
